I love this piece, it reminds me of Van Gogh's Café Terrace at Night. It could almost be two pieces though: the right side with the shuttered buildings leading up to the foreground stall, and then the left side with a well-lit alleyway stretching to the horizon. But because it's one piece, I would recommend making the blue sky darker and the lights of the right alleyway dimmer, to keep the focus on the foreground. That bright blue pops so beautifully, but it slides the eye and traps it in that corner of the picture. Same for the lights in the alley that maintain the same brightness as the one in the foreground.
My two cents, if you want them. I still think this is one of the most beautiful DeviantArt works I've ever seen, and that it's done in ballpoint pen just blows me away. I seriously congratulate you on your talent and skill.
This is one of those pictures that makes you wonder just how good people can be. Others may use digital tools to create something similar to this, but the artist used mere ballpoint pens.
The technique is superb, of course. Take note of the delicate crosshatching of the night sky and the cobblestones, the mastery of light and shadow, the excellent application of color. The perspective is also above par, and the color palette is just perfect for the scene. Details abound, from the cracks in the cobbles to the slightly disorderly wires on the facade of the building.
More than these technical aspects, one must realize the emotion -- the "story"-- behind this work of art. This scene speaks of a corner in some old European city, late in the night.
All other stalls and shops have closed, except for this last one. The man who owns the stall is halfway through packing it up for the night. He's just stepped out for a quick smoke and maybe a bite to eat, for he has not had his dinner yet. In another half-hour, this street will be deserted, illuminated only by the harsh orange of sodium-arc lamps and the astringent glare of fluorescent lights. The street will sleep soon, and will await the new day when it will once again bloom into bustling life.
This is a piece with soul. It speaks quietly of nostalgia and loneliness, but also there is an undertone of hope, and satisfaction for a long day's work. This is not just just worthy of being a Daily Deviation -- this should be in a gallery, displayed for all to marvel and feel.
